Wolverhampton have the weakest defence in the Premier League (14 goals conceded), while Liverpool boast the most reliable defence (1 goal conceded). Can the home team offset their defensive issues with their attacking play and support from the crowd?
Wolverhampton
In five rounds, the team has yet to clinch a victory. In the previous round, they started brilliantly away against Aston Villa, deservedly winning the first half 1:0 (10 (4) shots and an xG of 0.51), but they completely collapsed after the break. Zero shots, pinned back to their own goal, and as a result, three goals conceded. Wolverhampton have the most terrible increase in goals to dangerous moments (+6.79 xGA).
Liverpool
Liverpool have returned to form after the unexpected defeat to Nottingham Forest—winning and scoring at least two goals. AC Milan, Bournemouth, and West Ham United all failed the test. In the last Premier League round, Bournemouth were thrashed 3:0, with the team scoring three goals in the first half and calmly securing the win with 19 shots, 13 of which were on target. It's hard to imagine Wolverhampton’s frail defence coping with Liverpool, especially after losing key defender Yerson Mosquera due to a serious knee injury until the end of the season.
