Many of Max’s fans were a little uneasy when they did not see his usual early aggression and pressure in the fight against Poirier. As it turned out, a more measured and calculated Holloway focused on high-quality combinations and impeccable timing to land clean shots.
This refined approach should allow him to neutralise most of Charles’s predictable stand-up attacks. Holloway is even willing to give up the centre of the Octagon, only to overwhelm his opponent seconds later with a flurry of 4-5 consecutive strikes.
The Blessed could run into trouble only on the ground. Despite his solid jiu-jitsu credentials, Max once again exposed several wrestling deficiencies against Dustin, often struggling to develop offence from certain positions.
That is why he was forced at times to disengage from Poirier and return to striking. It would not be surprising if the Hawaiian’s camp does everything possible this time to keep the fight off the canvas altogether.

The win over Gamrot may have restored confidence in Do Bronx’s grappling, but it did little to impress seasoned analysts. The reason for such scepticism lies in the Brazilian’s static style and game plan, which have barely changed over the past decade.
Many will argue that it has worked even against top opposition. The issue is that Oliveira has become noticeably slower with age and is increasingly careless with his head defence. He no longer springs back to his feet after knockdowns as he once did, and his reaction speed is unlikely to be enough to spot Max’s incoming combinations in time.
Realistically, the best option for Oliveira is to trap the Hawaiian against the cage as early as possible or to drag the fight to the mat via a roll, scramble or by catching a kick. Even if he lands a few shots on the feet, outstriking The Blessed in open exchanges is simply not a viable path to victory.

Max Holloway vs Charles Oliveira Prediction
The main issue with this matchup is not so much that the fighters are competing far from a genuine title, but rather the continued promotion of the increasingly meaningless BMF belt, which has clearly lost most of its prestige among fans and seemingly even among fighters.
Still, while Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett battle for an interim title and Ilia Topuria deals with personal matters, Holloway and Oliveira have time to stay sharp, earn a payday and put on a show. From a promotional standpoint, Max appears far more motivated to defend his belt.
He understands that Oliveira’s pressure will be most dangerous in the first two rounds, while the Brazilian is still willing to absorb return fire. After that, the fight is likely to shift into survival mode, with clinches, flared elbows and attempts to drag Max to the ground using judo-style throws.
By that stage, Holloway should once again pull ahead in terms of significant strikes landed. For every two-shot combination from Do Bronx, Max will answer with a three-piece of his own, and those strikes seem far more likely to find the target.
This is not about dismissing Oliveira’s chances. It is simply that Max’s technique, timing, conditioning and mental approach are currently on a different level. He has a much clearer route to victory, even if it comes via a straightforward judges’ decision on the scorecards.
Prediction: Max Holloway to win.
