The Virgin brand is one of the most ubiquitous in the world, spanning airlines, rail franchises, wines, hotels, mobile phones, record stores, the list goes on. The “Virgin” brand has been around for almost 40 years and its newest addition, Virgin Bet, launched in June 2019.
As the sportsbook arm of Virgin, players can enjoy a reputable Sportsbook experience because it is licensed and regulated within the UK by the Gambling Commission (where it holds licence number 54310). In Gibraltar, the firm is licensed by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner and the Government of Gibraltar.
Odds - Average
We calculated the margin for Virgin Bet by analysing the odds they offer and placed them into one of the following three categories:
From 1% to 5%: Good value
Over 5% to 7%: Average value
Over 7% to 10%: Poor value
Football
We got our results by taking the "Match result" odds and also the over/under 2.5 goals odds for different matches in different football leagues. Getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.
Virgin Bet has an overall average margin of 5.63% for football and falls in the average category. In the first section with Premier League and Championship, the margin is at 4.62%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, the margin is at 6.31%. Finally, taking matches from around the rest of the world into account, the margin is at 5.97%.
Range of Sports and Markets - Average
Range of Sports: They have a wide range of coverage for most sports, with International Football particularly well covered. There are matches for virtually every league in the World, and they even cover Women’s friendly games too! In the UK it is a little disappointing that their depth only extends to League 2 but this does cover the vast majority of games for teams people support.
Range of Bets and Markets: Not only do they have everything you would expect, First Goal Scorers and Correct Scores, etc, etc, along with the full range of over / under markets and Asian handicaps, but on top of this they have total ball possession, the total number of offsides, the number of shots on target, really almost everything you can think of.
Away from football, they have an excellent Horse Racing offering with races from around the World well covered, not just UK and Ireland. They provide Early Prices and the interface is one of the best designed that we have come across displaying a large amount of race info and data. Other sports are similarly well serviced with easy navigation and depth of markets and generous odds across the board.
Betting Limits: Virgin Bet have decent limits for the major betting lines but can have reduced max liabilities on some minor markets.
In-Play Betting - Good
The virginbet.com “In-Play” offering is above average, covering major games in almost every sport. As you would expect football is most heavily featured but they also allow in running bets on every UK Horse race which is a rarity for UK bookmakers.
The televised streaming of events could be improved, with UK Horse racing the main source of pictures for this feature. For all matches and across all sports the number of variables to bet on could be improved, most of the time it is just the outright winner which you can bet on once “In-play”.
