Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup Qualification match.
At the start of their last Nations League campaign, it looked as though the Czech Republic were in decline following a heavy 1:4 defeat to Georgia. But they quickly turned things around, finding strong form and ultimately securing promotion to a higher tier. Now, playing at home against the Faroe Islands, the Czechs should create plenty of attacking opportunities.
Czech Republic
In a highly competitive Nations League group that featured Georgia, Ukraine, and Albania, the Czechs finished with the highest goal tally (9). The autumn campaign also saw the emergence of new attacking options—Tomas Chory and Pavel Sulc scored five goals between them, proving that the attack doesn’t solely rely on Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek. The team is currently on an eight-match home winning streak, which began back in October 2023.
Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands were among the surprises in League C, narrowly missing out on a playoff for promotion. However, away from home, they posed little threat. In their 0:1 losses to Latvia and North Macedonia, they allowed 2.37 xGA. Their deep defensive setup with five at the back is unlikely to stop a high-tempo Czech side, and their predictable game plan could be their undoing.
Czech Republic vs Faroe Islands Prediction
Since November 2022, the Czech Republic have defeated the Faroe Islands three times—5:0, 3:0, and 1:0. With home advantage and a strong push toward group leadership, the hosts should once again dominate.
