Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Europa League match.
Liverpool
After beating Brighton (2:1) and Sheffield United (3:1), Liverpool ended their away game against Manchester United in a draw (2:2). This was the third consecutive head-to-head game that Liverpool couldn’t win. Liverpool made 28 attempts on target, possessing the ball 62% of the game time. It was never enough, though. Liverpool have 42 points in their 16 home games in the Premier League, which is the best result. They haven’t lost a home game yet. Liverpool have beaten all their opponents in the Europa League home games with at least a two-goals lead. The previous stage saw them beating Sparta Prague 6:1.
Atalanta
Atalanta have won only 3 out of the last 10 games in all tournaments. After the break for international matches Atalanta beat Napoli (3:0) but the Bergamo side was beaten by Fiorentina (0:1) and Cagliari (1:2). Atalanta have 19 points in their 16 away games (tied with Monza in this results). They have conceded 24 goals, only Milan have performed worse (26) in the top 12.
Liverpool – Atalanta prediction
Atalanta have lost two games in April. The English side is motivated after losing their leadership in the Premier League. They want to win the tournaments they participate in.
Liverpool will be a problem for Atalanta's unstable defensive line in London. Liverpool will have an advantage before the second leg.
