2025 Qatar Grand Prix Winner Odds

After another dominant victory for Max and the disqualification of the two championship leaders, the title race is suddenly alive again. Judging by what the drivers are promising, the next race could be one of the most dramatic and intense of the entire year.

While many were already writing off Max’s title hopes, in a single Grand Prix he not only drew level on points with Oscar but slashed the deficit to the leader to just 24 points. Red Bull Racing still need a miracle to put more obstacles in Lando’s way, yet Verstappen’s chances have not looked this strong all season.

Verstappen himself, who not long ago dismissed the idea of fighting for the title this year, understands perfectly well that when fate hands you such an opportunity, you have to take it — and deliver your best in the final two rounds.

We need to make sure everything is done correctly and we are ready to show our strongest race of the season, even with two mandatory pit stops. We’ll try to maintain the momentum. The team is determined to push for the highest result possible.

Piastri, meanwhile, still seems shaken by his disqualification and is focusing more on what changes need to be made to the regulations than on the upcoming race.

There is definitely a need to make some adjustments. People try to interpret the rules to their advantage and we have already seen a few incidents we don’t want in racing. I am sure this will be discussed so that our sport develops and improves.

FIA, Thank You for Bringing the Drama Back

Obviously, the disqualification of both McLaren cars has revived the title fight, but will the adjustments to the floor settings impact their pace? Some analysts believe the frontrunners could even slip out of the top three once the issues are corrected, although drastic losses from two of the fastest cars in the field feel unlikely.

Lando is expected to unleash a level of performance we have not seen from him yet. He has received plenty of upgrades this year and it is quite possible that reverting to the original downforce configuration and keeping the floor unchanged may actually make his car quicker, given how large some of his previous winning margins were.

Meanwhile, FIA has already stressed that measures must be taken to address the proportionality of penalties to ensure that minor and accidental technical infringements — with minimal or zero sporting impact — do not lead to severe disqualifications.

Also keep in mind that Red Bull Racing have nothing left to counter their rivals with, apart from Max’s new engine, which currently gives him the chance to charge forward. To fight for the title, Verstappen needs to win not just the race, but also claim the sprint, while hoping Norris drops out of the top five.

Qatar Grand Prix History

The Qatar Grand Prix first appeared on the calendar in 2021, replacing the cancelled Australian Grand Prix due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the success of its debut, a long-term contract was signed to host the race for 10 years starting from 2023.

Since its introduction, the event has featured three races: Lewis Hamilton won the inaugural 2021 edition, while Max Verstappen claimed victory in both 2023 and 2024.

Tyre loads at Lusail are comparable to those seen at Suzuka, which is why Pirelli has brought the C1, C2 and C3 compounds this year.

Qatar Grand Prix Prediction

Regardless of how the sprint unfolds, the main battle for pole should be between Verstappen and Norris — both have clearly reached peak form and car performance at this stage of the season.

Max and Lando may well approach the opening qualifying segments conservatively, avoiding the need to set the outright best times early on to preserve fresh sets for possible double-stop strategies. And there is a suspicion that the two leaders may again be joined not by Oscar, who has lost some of his early-season spark, but by George Russell, ready to take risks for another podium.

Recent races show, however, that Mercedes tend to fade more quickly than Red Bull Racing and McLaren over long runs, so third place is likely the upper limit for Russell.

Still, after three tough weekends, George finally managed to keep the gaps under control and defended strongly. His future is already decided, and such a result certainly strengthens his standing with Toto Wolff and increases the likelihood of future extensions. Given Russell’s character, he is not going to settle and wants at least one more trophy before the season ends.

And if you have long backed Max, this upcoming race looks like the perfect moment to trust a motivated contender who continues to fine-tune his powerful new engine.
