Deportivo Táchira vs Flamengo Rio de Janeiro: prediction & betting odds 4 April 2025
Betting tips 4 April 2025
Deportivo Táchira may be the second most decorated club in Venezuelan football with ten league titles to their name, but in the grander scheme of South American football, they barely register compared to the might of Flamengo. Even the familiar surroundings of San Cristóbal are unlikely to level the scales in this one.
Deportivo Táchira currently sit second in the domestic table, locked on 18 points with Deportivo La Guaira. But history tells us that Venezuelan form rarely translates to success on the continental stage. Last season, Táchira finished bottom of their Libertadores group with just one point and a –9 goal difference. Their two meetings with River Plate — a side comparable to Flamengo in quality — ended in identical 0:2 defeats both home and away.
Flamengo, on the other hand, are serial winners. With seven Brazilian league titles — level with Palmeiras and Corinthians — and a Copa Libertadores trophy cabinet to match, they remain one of the continent’s most feared outfits. In 2024, the Rio giants claimed third in Serie A and reached the Libertadores quarter-finals. Now under the guidance of Felipe Luís, who took over in the autumn, they’ve already collected their first piece of silverware in 2025, edging Fluminense in a tense Campeonato Carioca final (0:0, 2:1).
There’s little reason to expect anything other than a professional away win here. Even at their most modest, Flamengo possess too much firepower and tactical discipline to slip up against such opposition.
