Eintracht Frankfurt vs Werder Bremen: prediction & betting odds 23 August 2025

The Matchday 1 clash in the Bundesliga between Eintracht and Werder will take place on August 23 at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt. Eintracht vs. Werder: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Eintracht

Last season, the team finished third – Eintracht's highest achievement in the 21st century. They accumulated 60 points, remaining unbeaten in the last six Bundesliga rounds (3 wins, 3 draws). Notably, in terms of points (34) and goals scored (41) at home, they were only behind Bayern and Borussia Dortmund last season. Over the summer, Eintracht played six friendly matches, suffering only one defeat (3 wins, 2 draws).

During the off-season, the squad was strengthened with goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, previously with their upcoming opponent, as well as forwards Ritsu Doan and Jonathan Burkardt. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, defender Tuta, and forwards Hugo Ekitike and Igor Matanovic left the club.

  • The team has not lost in 8 of their last 10 home Bundesliga matches (6 wins, 2 draws).
  • At least three goals were scored in 6 of their last 7 home matches in the league.
  • Both teams scored in 8 of Eintracht's last 12 home Bundesliga games.

Predicted lineup for Eintracht (4-5-1)

Michael Zetterer – Rasmus Kristensen, Nnamdi Collins, Robin Koch, Arthur Theate – Ritsu Doan, Hugo Larsson, Can Uzun, Fares Chaibi, Jean-Matthieu Baouia – Jonathan Burkardt.

Midfielder Eric Dina-Ebimbe will miss the match due to suspension.

Werder

Last season, the club finished eighth with 51 points, ending with an 8-match unbeaten run (5 wins, 3 draws). The last time Werder finished higher in the Bundesliga was in the 2009/20 season. However, they conceded 57 goals last season – only four teams had worse records. In preparation for the new season, Werder played ten friendly matches, securing four wins (1 draw, 5 losses).

Over the summer, the club acquired defender Maximilian Weber and forward Samuel Mbangula. Meanwhile, they parted ways with goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, defender Anthony Jung, and forwards Marvin Ducksch and Oliver Burke. Additionally, they appointed a new head coach, Horst Steffen, who has never managed a Bundesliga club before.

  • The club is unbeaten in their last five away league matches (4 wins, 1 draw).
  • The team scored at least twice in their last five away Bundesliga games.
  • At least three goals were scored in 8 of Werder's last 9 away league matches.

Predicted lineup for Werder (4-5-1)

Mio Backhaus – Felix Agu, Niklas Stark, Marco Friedl, Olivier Deman – Justin Njinmah, Leonardo Bittencourt, Romano Schmid, Sen Linnen, Samuel Mbangula – Marco Grüll.

Defender Mitchell Weiser and midfielder Jens Stage will miss the match due to injuries.

Eintracht vs. Werder: Match Prediction

In a clash between such opponents, I expect a high-scoring game. Eintracht at home plays open football, spending much time on the attack. Thanks to this style, they score a lot: in their last 21 home Bundesliga matches, they've never left the pitch without scoring. Moreover, in this period, Eintracht scored at least twice in 13 instances. However, in their last 12 home league games, they kept a clean sheet only four times.

Werder is confident on the road, focusing on attack. In their last 11 away Bundesliga matches, they failed to score only against Bayern and Freiburg, and in eight encounters during this time, they scored at least twice. However, in 7 of their last 9 away league games, they conceded, and in five cases, at least two goals.

I expect to see a bright and effective attacking performance from both teams, so my prediction: Total over 2.5 goals

Betting tips 23 August 2025

Eintracht return to the Champions League after last season’s third-place finish and will be eager to build on that success, while Werder narrowly missed out on European qualification and start the new campaign under a fresh head coach. On paper, Frankfurt look clear favourites, particularly at home.

Last season was historic for Eintracht: they qualified directly for the Champions League via the league for the first time in over 40 years, collecting 60 points — their best haul in that period. In attack, they ranked fourth in the Bundesliga with 68 goals, finishing the campaign strongly with 10 goals in their last four matches. The new season has started in similar fashion, hammering Engers (5:0) in the German Cup. Their unbeaten run now stretches to six competitive games. At home last term, Frankfurt won three of their final four league fixtures, keeping clean sheets in three of them.

Werder, meanwhile, finished eighth on 51 points — just one shy of the European places. However, their new era began with disappointment, losing 0:1 to Arminia in the Cup. Their form towards the end of last season was also patchy, drawing three of their final four matches — two of those goalless. While Werder did beat Eintracht at home in the spring, their away record in this fixture is poor: they have failed to win in Frankfurt in six consecutive visits.

Eintracht boast a more settled side and sharper form coming into the opener. Werder, under a new boss, are still searching for balance, with attacking problems plain to see. Factoring in home advantage and Frankfurt’s unbeaten streak, the hosts look strong favourites.
