England National Team

Lee Carsley's squad performed confidently in their September Nations League matches. England started with a 2-0 away victory over Ireland, followed by another 2-0 win at home against Finland. Over the past two years, England has played 17 official matches, suffering only one defeat in regular time (the Euro 2024 final), with 10 wins and 6 draws.

  • Before their current campaign in League B, England competed in League A, where they went six matches without a win (3 draws and 3 losses).
  • At least one team has failed to score in 9 of England's last 11 Nations League matches.
  • England has not scored more than two goals in regular time in 15 of their last 17 Nations League games.

Greece National Team

Similar to their opponents, Greece has yet to drop points or concede a goal in the new Nations League season. Ivan Jovanović’s team first thrashed Finland 3-0 at home, then secured a 2-0 win against Ireland away. Notably, Greece has kept clean sheets in their last four official matches and is unbeaten in five games (3 wins and 2 draws).

  • Greece has lost only once in their last 14 Nations League matches (10 wins and 3 draws).
  • At least one team has failed to score in 11 of Greece's last 12 Nations League matches.
  • Greece has scored in 5 of their last 6 away Nations League matches.

England vs Greece Prediction

These teams seem set to battle for the top spot in Group 2. England is the clear favorite, being stronger than their group rivals, and there's little doubt they will comfortably finish first and return to League A. England has shown consistent form in qualifying matches for the European Championship and World Cup, with their only recent setbacks coming in the last Nations League campaign, where they failed to win any matches in League A. Over the past two years, England has lost only twice, both times against top teams – Spain in the Euros and France in the World Cup.

England typically has no trouble against mid-tier European teams, whereas Greece tends to struggle against top-tier opponents. In the past three and a half years, Greece has played six matches against strong national teams, losing five of them without scoring (against Sweden, Spain, France, and twice against the Netherlands), with only one draw – at home against France in the final round of Euro qualifying.

Our prediction is another victory for the hosts, keeping a clean sheet – "England to win without conceding."

England — Greece betting tips 10 Oct 2024

In October, the coaching staff of the England national team has another opportunity to showcase their quality debut in the Nations League. The task at home against Greece is straightforward for the team: secure a comfortable win and test the squad's depth, which could be beneficial for future challenges.

Against the Republic of Ireland and Finland (both 2:0 victories), the team performed nearly flawlessly. In Dublin, England scored twice by the 26th minute, and the final xG difference (2.25 to 0.37 with 71-29 in possession percentage) indicated that the team had little to challenge them in Division B. The scenario was similar with Finland, where the Bayern Munich forward scored twice, with shot statistics (22-2) demonstrating their dominance.

In March, the Greece national team fell just short of qualifying for Euro 2024. This year, they have faced top competition only in friendlies—losing to Germany in June (1:2) while the German reserves dominated possession (36-64). Certainly, Greece deserve credit for an impressive start in the Nations League with wins over Finland (3:0) and the Republic of Ireland (2:0), but at Wembley, they'll encounter an opponent of a completely different level.

On Thursday, England will have plenty of opportunities for another victory. Greece will likely lose the group lead, their opponent is by far the most formidable side in the second tier of the Nations League.
