An away game with Everton will be Brighton's first official match under the new promising coach Fabian Hurzeler. The specialist, who led St. Pauli to Bundesliga last season, will start with a tough test against the team that is known across Europe for their defensive style.
Tough and old-school style helped Everton to escape the elimination from the Championship last season. The team lost eight points due to penalties but still avoided a tense finish. In the last pre-season matches, Everton beat Preston (3:0) and drew with Rome (1:1). After such confident friendlies, they can charge into the official part of the season.
Fabian Hurzeler’s debut in friendly matches was impressive. There, Brighton won four games in a row with a total score of 14:3. However, the only tough opponent there was Villarreal (4:0), which played a half-reserve team. It’s worth noting that the team worked well in the transfer market again, newcomers Yankuba Minteh and Mats Wieffer (both played for Feyenoord) will be in the starting lineup.
Since Sean Dyche joined Everton, Brighton hasn’t beaten their team (1:5, 1:1 and 1:1). At Goodison Park, Everton will play solid defence, and even if they concede, they won’t attack a lot.
