Arminia Bielefeld vs Bayer 04: betting odds 1 Apr 2025

The German Cup semi-final match between Arminia and Bayer will take place on April 1 at the SchücoArena in Bielefeld. Arminia vs. Bayer: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Arminia

The team has reached the semi-finals of the national Cup for the fourth time in its history. In the previous round, Arminia defeated Werder at home with a score of 2-1. Michel Kniat's side won in regular time in all four matches of the current German Cup campaign, scoring at least two goals in each game during this stretch. Interestingly, all matches were played at home. It is worth noting that Arminia has never reached the final of the national Cup.

  • The team has scored in their last 6 German Cup matches.
  • Bielefeld has not lost in regular time in their last six home matches in this tournament (4 wins, 2 draws).
  • The club has not conceded more than one goal in their last 5 home games in the national Cup.

Predicted lineup for Arminia (4-5-1)*

Jonas Kersken – Christopher Lannert, Leon Schneider, Luis Oppie, Joel Felix – Marius Wörl, Mael Corboz, Sam Francis Schreck, Stefano Russo, Lukas Kunze – Julian Kanya.

Bayer

Leverkusen is on the verge of their sixth final in the national Cup. In the previous rounds, Xabi Alonso's side had no issues, winning three matches in the current tournament without conceding. However, in the quarter-finals, Bayer needed extra time to defeat Cologne (2-2, extra time 1-0). It should be noted that the team conceded for the first time in their last 6 German Cup matches.

  • Bayer has won in 90 minutes in 9 of their last 10 national Cup matches.
  • The club scored first in 5 of their last 6 away games in this tournament.
  • At least one opponent failed to score in 7 of Leverkusen's last 9 away matches in the German Cup.

Predicted lineup for Bayer (4-5-1)*

Matej Kovar – Jeremie Frimpong, Edmond Tapsoba, Nordi Mukiele, Jonathan Tah – Alejandro Grimaldo, Granit Xhaka, Florian Wirtz, Emiliano Buendia, Ezequiel Palacios – Patrik Schick.

Match Prediction: Arminia vs. Bayer

Bielefeld has already defeated three Bundesliga representatives in the current German Cup. Their success is largely due to the home advantage, as Michel Kniat's side has been fortunate to play all matches at home. Moreover, Arminia has played six consecutive home matches in the national Cup without losing in regular time (4 wins, 2 draws). Additionally, in their last 19 home Cup matches, Bielefeld has suffered only two heavy defeats.

Leverkusen ended their impressive winning streak in regular time in the German Cup in the last round. Nevertheless, Xabi Alonso's side is on course for their second consecutive final in this tournament. Bayer is likely to advance past Bielefeld, but an easy win is unlikely. In the national Cup, the team has achieved only one victory with at least a three-goal margin in their last five matches. Overall, Leverkusen has rarely thrashed opponents, winning by a large margin only once in their last 13 official matches.

My prediction: Arminia with a handicap (+2.5)

* The starting lineup for each team is based on their previous match in this tournament.

Arminia Bielefeld — Bayer 04 betting tips 1 Apr 2025

On paper, Bayer Leverkusen couldn’t have asked for a kinder draw. While Stuttgart and Leipzig battle it out in the other semi-final, they travel to face third-tier Arminia Bielefeld — a club that’s only recently started to recover from a dramatic fall through the divisions.

Arminia Bielefeld’s descent was rapid: relegated from the Bundesliga in 2021/22, they slipped straight through the second division and flirted with losing professional status altogether. But under young manager Michél Kniat, the club has stabilised. Now fighting for promotion from the 3. Liga, they’ve also reached their first German Cup semi-final since 2014/15 — a remarkable achievement for a side that hadn’t been past the second round in the last seven years. Along the way, they’ve stunned top-flight opponents including Union Berlin, Freiburg, and Werder Bremen.

Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, may ultimately fall short in the Bundesliga title race, but there’s no doubt they remain one of the best sides in Germany. Their own cup run has included a narrow win over Bayern Munich — helped by a red card to Manuel Neuer and a second-half winner. It was their only match against Bundesliga opposition, and arguably more demanding than anything Arminia have faced.

Still, Bayer Leverkusen arrive with several injuries, including star man Florian Wirtz, who may feature but is unlikely to be risked if not fully fit. That said, even a rotated Leverkusen line-up should have the quality to get the job done. Notably, however, they’ve only once won by more than a single goal in this cup run. This may not be a rout — and Arminia's resilience, backed by home support, could keep the margin manageable.
