Rwanda vs Nigeria: betting odds 21 Mar 2025

Betting tips 21 Mar 2025

Rwanda's compact, defensive approach has served them well in the early stages of qualifying, helping them unexpectedly rise to the top of Group C. But the visit of Nigeria to Kigali will be the true litmus test. With the Nigerians aiming for a convincing result, this could be a turning point in the group standings.

Rwanda have shown defensive frailties in recent months. During Africa Cup of Nations qualification, they suffered heavy defeats against Benin (0:3) and Libya (0:1). Their 2:1 win over a rotated and unmotivated Nigeria last November came against the run of play—Nigeria had 14 shots to Rwanda's 4 and created significantly more chances. In four World Cup qualifiers so far, Rwanda have scored only three goals—a tally better than only Zimbabwe (2) in Group C.

Nigeria’s underwhelming start to the campaign led to a managerial change, and March marks the debut of Finidi George as head coach. The former winger previously impressed during a strong run with Mali, and now inherits a loaded Nigerian squad. The attacking duo of Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen is set to be supported by Ademola Lookman and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru on the wings, giving Nigeria an abundance of quality in the final third. Their squad value is among the highest in Africa, with three players ranking inside the continent’s top eight in market worth.

Despite Rwanda’s solid organisation, Nigeria’s individual brilliance should be enough to secure a vital away win in Kigali and keep them firmly in the race for a top-two finish.
