After losing in the third round of Wimbledon, Gael Monfils was hoping to play really well at home at the Paris Olympics. However, things didn’t go this way, he lost badly in the first round to Lorenzo Musetti (1:6, 4:6). His performance on hard courts in North America wasn’t good either. Monfils couldn’t handle Thanasi Kokkinakis’ first serve (3:6, 3:6).
Alexei Popyrin
Alexei Popyrin is having a great time. He just won his first ATP Masters 1000 title, overcoming the challenging part of the draw. On his way, the Canadian won five matches in a row against top-20 opponents. In this case Monfils looks modest.

Monfils’ loss to Kokkinakis shows that he’s struggling. Popyrin serves harder and more consistently, and the courts in Cincinnati are really fast. We think Popyrin will keep winning.
