22-year-old Inter Miami defender suffers third ACL injury
Inter Miami defender Ian Fray has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) for the third time in his career, as reported by Rising Ballers.
The 22-year-old Jamaican came on as a substitute in the second half of the first leg of the Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffs round of 16 against Atlanta United (2-1). However, he was forced to leave the field just 16 minutes later due to the injury.
Fray first tore his ACL in February 2021, an injury that sidelined him for over two years, with his return to the pitch coming only in May 2023. The Jamaican defender suffered a similar injury in July last year. In June of this year, Fray scored against the Columbus Crew in his first match back from his previous ACL tear.
Ian Fray is an academy graduate of Inter Miami and has been playing for the senior team since 2021. This season, the Jamaican has scored two goals in 17 matches for the Herons.
Fray's contract with Inter Miami runs until the end of December this year.
