ATP and WTA merger possible in early 2025
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) could merge in 2025. According to Front Office Sport, the merger is expected to be completed in the first half of next year, resulting in a new entity named Tennis Ventures.
The unification of the ATP and WTA aims to consolidate data, media, and sponsorships for tournaments. These changes are not expected to impact competition schedules, prize funds, or relationships with players and tournaments. The primary motivation for merging the commercial activities of these organisations is to address the disparity in revenue between men's and women's tours.
The ATP was established in 1972, followed by the founding of the WTA in 1973.
