"Glad the Young Player Challenged Me": Djokovic on Resilient Victory Over Michelsen
Serbian tennis star and world No. 4 Novak Djokovic reflected on his victory against American Alex Michelsen in the second round of the Shanghai Masters in China.
"It was my first match against Alex, and having been away from the court for a while, it took me some time to find my rhythm. He started brilliantly, with powerful serves and an aggressive style of play. It was a very close match, and I believe the level of tennis was high in both sets. I'm just pleased to have kept my composure when it mattered in the second set tiebreak. I'm glad the young player really challenged me, and I look forward to the next match," Djokovic was quoted as saying on the ATP website.
The 37-year-old Serb triumphed over the 20-year-old American with a score of 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (11-9).
