Goffin on victory over Zverev: "Our game plan worked"

Belgian tennis player David Goffin, ranked 66th in the ATP rankings, shared his thoughts on defeating world No. 3 Alexander Zverev at the Shanghai Masters hard-court tournament.

On October 9th, Goffin triumphed over the German athlete with a score of 6-4, 7-5 in the fourth round of the competition in China.

"I have built confidence from the beginning of the tournament. Match after match, I was playing better and I just came on the court and tried to play my best tennis.

I tried to stick to the plan that I had with my coach and it worked. Even though he came back with some good rallies, I just tried to stay positive because I was on the right way to winning the match. It paid off in the end with a really good service game to finish, so I am really happy with the win," the ATP press office quoted Goffin as saying.

In the quarter-finals of the tournament, David Goffin will face American Taylor Fritz.

The Shanghai Masters will conclude on October 13, with a prize fund of just under $9 million.
