Medvedev could face disqualification for throwing his racket at the 2024 Laver Cup

The world’s fifth-ranked tennis player, Russian Daniil Medvedev, faces the possibility of disqualification for throwing his racket during the 2024 Laver Cup, as reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Medvedev received a warning from the chair umpire after he threw his racket during the tie-break of the first set.

In a press conference following the tournament, Medvedev apologised to the audience for his actions.

"When you’re not bothering anyone in tennis, you don’t get disqualified. That’s it. But I shouldn’t have done that," he commented on the incident in an interview with Tennis Majors.

The European team, featuring Daniil Medvedev, triumphed over the World team in the 2024 Laver Cup with a score of 13-11, although Medvedev lost both of his matches in the tournament.
