WADA to Seek Disqualification of Sinner for Anti-Doping Rule Violation

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will work towards the disqualification of world No. 1 Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner for violating anti-doping regulations.

«In WADA’s view, the conclusion of ‘no fault or negligence’ was not appropriate under the rules. WADA is seeking a disqualification ranging from one to two years. The agency is not pursuing the annulment of results, except for those already issued by the first-instance court,» stated the organization in an official release.

In August, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced that Sinner had tested positive in two doping tests in March. The tennis player was not suspended, having proved that the banned substance entered his body inadvertently.
