Adam Williams presents his prediction for the UFC 307 fight.
Kevin Holland
Kevin will use his scorching hooks to keep Roman at bay and target his body with front kicks. Holland will throw numerous combinations aimed at the head, complemented by leg attacks, to get ahead on points. After landing a left jab, he will unleash a vicious uppercut to knock out his opponent. The American will maintain distance, where he can comfortably execute sprawls and sidestep Roman’s attacks. Holland will utilise quick, short steps to deliver rapid and dangerous combinations.
Roman Dolidze
Roman’s solid defence will allow him to absorb a few punches and close in on his opponent. From there, he will employ wide hooks or engage in a clinch and launch sharp knee strikes. After a couple of straight punches, Dolidze will execute a double-leg takedown. He will need to wrestle extensively against the cage, where he will use short elbow strikes and trips. If the Georgian fighter gains top position, he will focus on ground and pound to avoid submissions. He will control his opponent's long legs and look for a heel hook when possible. As Holland begins to stand up, Dolidze will give him space only to then secure his neck.
Betting Odds
Bookmakers favour the American, who has improved his takedown defence and retains his striking skills. Odds for Holland to win are 13/20.
Expectations were higher for Roman to secure a more impressive victory over Anthony Smith. The Georgian fighter fought sluggishly and appeared tired early in the third round. A bet on Dolidze’s victory is available at odds of 6/5.
Kevin Holland vs Roman Dolidze Prediction
Kevin is the more agile and technical fighter, which should allow him to outmanoeuvre Roman in striking exchanges. He also packs enough power to potentially knock out his opponent. Dolidze’s main weapon will be grappling, but he lacks the aggressive and explosive style required to bring Holland to the ground. Once on the canvas, Kevin won’t be as easily controlled as in the past. Holland might concede one round due to a surprise takedown, but he is expected to regain control of the rest of the fight with his superior striking. Roman often absorbs unnecessary punches and sometimes forgets his grappling prowess.
