Adam Williams presents his prediction for the World Snooker Championship match.
Luca Brecel and Judd Trump, having played their second-round matches at the World Championship with differing approaches, now head into their head-to-head duel in peak form.
Luca Brecel
The “Belgian Bullet” is the most unpredictable player not only at this year’s World Championship, but also on the tour. He is a highly talented player, who sometimes exhibits a brave and aggressive style of play that can be breathtaking. Watching Brecel’s matches is a genuine pleasure for snooker fans, as predicting his next move is impossible. The unique attacking style of the 30-year-old Brecel is popular with the audience, and Luca himself clearly revels in his own performances. In his opening match, Luca defeated Ryan Day 10-7, and in the second round he left no stone unturned against Ding Junhui 13-4.
Judd Trump
The 35-year-old “Ace in the Pack” is the main contender to win the World Championship, and Judd confirms his status in every match, showing the world number one’s quality with every shot. In his opening match, Trump Trump won with a big advantage over Zhou Yuelong 10-4, and in his second match with Shaun Murphy, he gradually took the initiative, defeating Shaun 13-10 and making his 100th century of the season. Thus, Judd reached this milestone for the second time in his career, and in his match against Brecel he has the potential to break the record for centuries in a season – the current record holder is Neil Robertson, who made 103 centuries in the 2013/2014 season.
Luca Brecel vs Judd Trump Prediction
Judd Trump is the clear favourite in this match, but we believe the outcome will depend on the level of performance Luca Brecel shows. If Brecel plays like he did against Ding Junhui, he will reach the semi-finals, as it is challenging to compete against a player who fearlessly plays all the balls that can be played. We think Trump will not adopt a particularly open, attacking style of play against Brecel, but instead, will rely on his superior class to secure victory. Judd is more balanced and versatile. We also expect to see several century breaks from both players.
