Manny has remained fully focused throughout those years, combining both his sporting career and political activity. The issue is that his trademark rapid fire combinations have clearly lost some of their old edge with age, and are unlikely to trouble Mayweather in the same way. Pacquiao is priced at

to win.

Floyd Mayweather

The unbeaten boxing legend. Bronze medallist at the 1996 Olympic Games. Holder of WBC, IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO titles across different weight classes.

When you think back to prime Floyd, the first things that come to mind are the lightning jab, the shoulder roll and phenomenal stamina, all backed by inhuman discipline outside the ring. But when you look at the legend’s more recent outings, it becomes clear that not much of that old motivation remains.
Mayweather has clearly started treating fights as little more than a chance to cash a huge cheque and put his name back in the headlines for a couple of months. It also matters that since the Logan Paul bout, there has not been a single truly serious opponent on his record, someone capable of bringing genuine sporting meaning to the occasion. That is exactly why a fight with Pacquiao could become the long awaited motivational renaissance for Floyd, when, on top of the millions of dollars, he also gets another chance to immortalise his name on the global boxing stage.
His reflexes, pull counters and jab speed may clearly be past their best, but Mayweather’s experience and technical toolkit should never be underestimated. He still manages distance brilliantly and remains capable of defending against sharp attacks. The problem is that the accuracy of his return punches leaves plenty to be desired, and the fight with Gotti illustrated that perfectly.
Even so, Floyd still has everything required to win this fight on points and manage his energy smartly over the full distance. Arguably, the best thing he can do is to fully replicate the style and tactics of their first meeting.

Many of us approached Pacman’s return in July 2025 with real caution. A lengthy layoff and a couple of exhibition bouts hardly looked like the ideal foundation for resuming a professional career at the age of 46. Still, Manny proved that he was preparing for real fights at a completely different level.
He gave the younger Barrios no room to work, forced the pace, cut the distance and then, from round 10 onwards, seemed to toy with his opponent, increasing the tempo so dramatically that he stunned even the most seasoned boxing cardio machines.
Naturally, just as with Floyd, age has still brought significant changes. Manny has started taking far too many jabs. His work at range has also let him down, as he often struggled to judge Mario’s punching distance and repeatedly walked into fairly basic traps. At the same time, when closing in, he came too close on several occasions, effectively taking the proper arc and snap off his own shots.
That said, his level of stamina will certainly surprise Floyd, who may need to conserve his energy until the midway point just to cope with the pressure the Filipino is likely to apply during the championship rounds.

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Prediction
Let us start with the obvious. From both a financial and promotional point of view, the organisers need only one result here, which is a Floyd victory, because that would open the door for him to build momentum around a couple of exhibition shows afterwards. On top of that, rumours suggest Mayweather is dealing with serious financial issues, and a basic appearance cheque may no longer be enough to satisfy his ambitions.
Yes, many analysts are all saying the same thing, which is that Floyd is turning up to get paid and nothing more. But it is worth backing the view that the untouchable zero in his record still matters to him more than any figure in the contract.
Mayweather could face a brutal opening spell and may even be comprehensively outworked up to the halfway mark. Even so, judging by how quickly Manny’s defence starts to unravel under a sustained stream of jabs, there is reason to believe Floyd will still find his window to edge ahead on the cards.
And no matter how aggressive and relentless Pacquiao may be, he could simply run out of time, and of those precise punches combined with proper distance control, that would be needed to overhaul his old rival.
That is exactly why the pick this time is once again Floyd, with little doubt that the judges will be the ones deciding the outcome.
Prediction: Floyd Mayweather to win.
