The prices on George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, however, look far less convincing. A likely concern is Mercedes' current reliability issues, highlighted by Russell's frustrating mechanical retirement in Canada.

Max and Lewis rising again
While bookmakers continue to present Charles Leclerc as the clear favourite, it is worth remembering the highly competitive battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in Montreal.
Notably, their second- and third- place finishes represented their best results of the season so far, and judging by the comments from both drivers, it was far from a one-off performance.
Verstappen, for example, gave fans plenty of encouragement by revealing that the car is finally becoming quicker and more stable:
Hamilton, meanwhile, pointed out that Monaco offers Ferrari an excellent opportunity to show Mercedes that engine power is not the decisive factor at every circuit:
Another important factor is that Scuderia Ferrari could receive long-awaited FIA approval for further engine development after Monaco. If you are unfamiliar with the programme, the current ADUO regulations provide struggling manufacturers with additional opportunities to improve their power units during the season. According to paddock insiders, the first upgrade package could be tested at the Austrian Grand Prix, with a second package expected after the summer break.

Monaco Grand Prix 2026 Prediction
As we traditionally back Verstappen, we cannot ignore the value on him securing a top-six finish, especially with odds still available at 1.40. Crucially, for the first time in a long while, Verstappen has expressed satisfaction with the car's suspension setup, ride quality and tyre degradation.
As you may have guessed, these are all key ingredients for success around Monaco. Verstappen and the updated Red Bull now have a genuine opportunity not only to finish near the front but also to challenge for a podium position.
At the same time, we are not particularly drawn to backing Leclerc, regardless of how motivated he may be or what upgrades Ferrari have introduced. A more appealing option is Hamilton to secure a podium finish, as he may finally have rediscovered his rhythm and looks capable of springing a surprise.
