Existing Customer Betting Offers
There are a handful of Royal Ascot free bets valid for existing customers. More will be available as we approach the 2023 event. For now, let's take a look at some of the most common free bet and other Royal Ascot offers that have been available in recent years.
Enhanced Odds For Royal Ascot
One of the most popular Royal Ascot free bets and promotions comes in the form of enhanced odds.
So, what exactly are enhanced odds? These are odds where the betting sites greatly increase the price of a particular horse. Usually, they enhance the odds of the favourite. For example, if the favourite is priced at Evens, a betting site could increase the price to, say, 33/1.
These are usually only aimed at new customers and how they work is a little different to other free bets and bonuses. There is usually a minimum deposit or stake to be placed. How you're paid out is different, too. If you take an offer such as this, and your horse comes in, you will be paid in cash at the original odds, with the enhanced odds part paid as free bets.
Expect to see enhanced odds offers throughout Royal Ascot at a number of betting sites. Paddy Power are particularly renowned for these offers. BetVictor and William Hill are also known for these promotions in their horse racing betting section.
As with all bets and betting offers, check the terms and conditions before you bet. This is true of all bookmakers and the promotions they offer. An example of an enhanced odds bet from a bookmaker which all customers can bet on is:
Who Pays Extra Places At Ascot
Extra Places is another popular promotion many online bookmakers offer. These offers could be available on any Royal Ascot meeting. Essentially, online bookmakers offer an extra place payout for when you place an Each Way bet.
How does it work? Generally, betting sites offer a specific number of places for E/W betting. Most bookies offer the same number of places. The number of places it pays out on depends on how many runners are in the race itself.
If the meet has four or less runners, there will be no each way odds. With five to seven runners, there are usually two extra places. Eight to fifteen runners there are three extra places and with fifteen or more runners, there are four.
So, if you were to place an each way bet on a race that has seven runners, you would win your bet if your horse finishes first, second or third. If there are nine runners and your horse finishes in the top four, you'd win your bet.
Each way betting is a way to give yourself a better chance of winning your wager. The odds, however, can be dramatically shortened if you win the E/W part of your bet. Typically, you'd get 1/4 or even 1/5 of the original odds when you take this bet type.
Extra place betting is exactly what it sounds like. For instance, on a seven horse race, instead of offering two E/W places, betting sites could offer three or even four.
These types of offers are common on races at Royal Ascot. Sky Bet are particularly famous for extra place betting. We also expect most Royal Ascot betting sites to have this promotion available throughout the five day event. William Hill Royal Ascot betting offers also include this type of promotion.
As with all free bet offers, including Ascot free bets, check the validity of your reward. Limitations can apply, so check when your free bets expire and all min odds and minimum stake limits.
A summary of the best bookmakers for Extra Place offers is:
Bookmaker |
Total Extra Place Races (per day) |
How many Extra Places |
Stake Limits |
---|---|---|---|
Sky Bet | 3 | 1/2/3 | No |
Betfred | 6 | 1/2 |

Boylesports | 6 | 1 |

William Hill | 4 | 1 |

Unibet | 3 | 1/2 |

Free bet refunds if 2nd, 3rd or 4th!
A number of bookmakers will offer refunds if your horse finishes second on selected races. Sometimes it is just to finish second but sometimes it must be second and a certain (often the SP favourite) horse must win. If you look around you can find refunds for up to the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th placed finishers.
Money Back As Cash Specials
Another incredibly popular Royal Ascot meeting betting offer, Money Back as cash can give you the opportunity to place an arguably risky bet, knowing you'll receive your stake back if you lose. Paddy Power are probably the most well known for this type of offer.
With this Royal Ascot offer, place a bet on a horse to win. If your horse fails to ride to victory, you'll get your stake back as cash. This means that you can withdraw this amount from your betting account.
There are some horse racing offers that only give you your stake back in the form of free bets. The beauty of a stake back as cash offer means you can withdraw it, or place it on any other event, horse racing or otherwise. Skybet are a bookmaker who offer this on certain races during Royal Ascot.
How Do Money Back Specials Work At Royal Ascot?
There are a range of money back specials available for Royal Ascot. Some return your stake as cash, such as in the example above. Others return your funds in free bets, valid either solely on horse racing or other sports too. If your money is returned to you as a free wager, check the t's and c's of your free bet stakes.
We'll use a couple of examples before we look at the most common stake back offers. Firstly, let's take a closer look at stake back as cash specials.
Let's say you place a bet on a horse to win the Coronation Stakes as part of a stake back as cash special. If your selection wins, you win your bet. If your horse loses, you'll receive your stake back as cash. This means it's withdrawable. You can transfer this cash amount back to your whichever of the deposit methods you chose to use. Or, you can keep this amount in your betting account and use it however you like.
Some operators offer you your money back, but only as a free bet. So, if you bet on a horse to win and it fails to do so, you'll receive your stake back as either one free bet or separate free bets.
Depending on the terms of the offer, it's possible you might only be able to use your free bet stakes on Royal Ascot races. There are many factors that make up terms and conditions of a Royal Ascot free bet offer. A max qualifying bet stake, a first bet limit, deposit methods limitations and minimum odds limitations can apply. Just like a casino bonus or any other bookmaker promotion, ensure you understand the t's and c's before you start your racing bets.
Money Back If Your Pick Refuses To Run
This is a very popular offer used in horse racing regularly. If your horse refuses to leave the stalls or start a selected Royal Ascot meeting, you could receive your money back.
These are very common promotions used throughout Royal Ascot each year. You'll find that most operators will offer a promotion such as this.
Run For Your Money
BetVictor are particularly renowned for this offer. Run For Your Money is similar to the promotion above. If your horse refuses to start the race or gets caught in the starting gates, you could receive your stake back. This could come in the form of cash or as a free bet.
ITV Racing: Money Back Second
This offer has proved popular with horse racing betting fans. Previously, this offer has been available with a number of bookmakers, including bet365 and Betway.
Unibet also offers a similar promotion, available for Royal Ascot bets. We'll take a look at their free bets and other promotions in more detail shortly.
Place a bet on a horse to win in a race broadcast live on ITV. If your horse finishes in second place, you'll receive your stake back. Generally, you'll receive your stake back in the form of a free bet or free bets. This offer was championed by Star Sports in 2023.
Price Boosts
A promotion you'll find throughout Royal Ascot and horse racing in general, Price Boosts are a form of enhanced odds offer. The latter tends to inflate the original odds dramatically. With Price Boosts, the odds are lengthened a little. For instance, if a price was set at 3/1, a Price Boost could lengthen this to 5/1. Price boosts tend to be a lot more time limited than enhanced odds offers, although essentially they are the same thing.
In many cases, a winning bet will see you receive cash at the original price, with the boost part awarded in the form of a free bet or free bets.
There are many bookies who offer price boosts regularly. William Hill and Boylesports in particular offer this type of bonus throughout the horse racing season.
Paddy’s Rewards Club
There are many reasons why Paddy Power is one of the most popular operators around. We expect them to offer Royal Ascot free bets in abundance. New and existing customers can join the Paddy's Rewards Club, which can offer you a range of free bet opportunities and Power Ups.
Paddy's Rewards Club isn't just restricted to online bettors, either. You can place your bets in land-based bookmakers and qualify for rewards. The Club also encompasses the casino arm of their operation, meaning you could receive a casino bonus as a member.
Throughout Royal Ascot, expect to find many free bet opportunities.
There are different ways you can qualify for bet credits or free bets with Paddy's Reward Club. Currently, if you place one bet of £5 or more, you will receive a Power Up the following week. This can increase the min odds of your next bet.
If you place at least five bets of £5 or more, you'll receive a £5 free bet the following week.
If you place at least ten bets of £5 or more, you'll receive a £10 free bet the following week.
There is a maximum free bet stake of £10 per week, along with one Power Up per week.
Make sure you place your qualifying bet or bets within the time and dates stated in the offer.
You can use your free bet or Power Up on most betting markets available, not just racing bets. Note that min odds limits can apply. Also, bet types excl can also apply. Check the terms and conditions before you join up. In addition, check if and when your free bets expire.
New customers can also receive a free bet when they join and place a first bet. Once you've submitted your account reg, you can start betting. Again, make sure you read the terms before you confirm your account reg.
Sky Bet Club
Whether you're new to Sky Bet or you're an existing customer, you can opt-in to Sky Bet Club. Once you've completed your account reg and clicked the Opt-In button, you can receive free bets, subject to min odds and stake limitations.
Currently, there are two options in Sky Bet Club. These are Stake £20 or Stake £30. The former applies to football markets. The latter is available on all markets, including horse racing bets.
Bet £30 on any markets with min odds of Evens and you'll receive a £5 free bet the following week. There are no bet types excl either, this offer is available on all bet types.
You don't have to bet the full amount in one go. You can bet whichever amount you feel comfortable with. Use the Tracker to see how much you've bet and how close you are to your free bet. Note, though, that your qualifying bet or bets must be placed between Monday and midnight Sunday.
