Fulham once again did not secure a victory, but put on a respectable performance. Meanwhile, Brighton have climbed into the Champions League spots at the expense of Manchester City, despite not winning. The clubs are separated by six positions but only four points.
Following a home defeat to Wolverhampton (1:4), it seemed unlikely that Fulham would earn points at Tottenham Hotspur, but despite trailing, they were close to clinching a win. In all aspects, Fulham outperformed Tottenham: they took more shots (14-8), were twice as accurate on target (6-3), and created one more clear-cut chance (3-2). Their winning potential was squandered (1.58-0.78 in xG), but the key takeaway is they are creating chances. That was away; now what happens at home? At Craven Cottage, Fulham average 17.8 shots (third highest) and 6.8 on target (fifth).
Brighton became one of three clubs to drop points to Southampton (1:1), being the first to do so at their own stadium. They allow their opponents to score, but continue to find the back of the net themselves in six consecutive matches, with both teams scoring in each of those encounters. This is even better than Fulham, who had one miss, hitting six out of seven. Away from home, Brighton's shot count hardly drops (12.7-15.9). They remain in the top ten nonetheless.
Only three teams have left Fulham’s ground with a clean sheet in 2024, while the rest have conceded. Brighton have consistently scored away since late last season, so we have no doubt that both teams will find the net.
