Gibraltar vs Czech Republic: betting odds 25 Mar 2025

The Matchday 2 World Cup 2026 qualifier between Gibraltar and Czech Republic will take place on March 25 at the Algarve Stadium in Faro-Loulé. Gibraltar vs. Czech Republic: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Gibraltar

In their last match against Montenegro, the team opened the scoring but failed to secure their first points in the World Cup qualifiers. After losing 1-3, Gibraltar extended their losing streak in this tournament to 21 matches. However, for the first time in their history, the national team scored in two consecutive World Cup qualification matches.

  • Gibraltar has conceded at least three goals in their last 16 World Cup qualifying matches.
  • At home, the team failed to score in 6 of their last 7 matches in this tournament.
  • At least three goals have been scored in Gibraltar's last 10 home World Cup qualifying matches.

Predicted lineup for Gibraltar (4-5-1)

Bradley Banda – Bernardo Lopes, Ethan Britto, Louie Annesley, Kian Ronan – Ayoub El Hmidi, Dan Bent, Carlos Richards, James Scanlon, Liam Jessop – Tjay De Barr.

Czech Republic

Ivan Hašek's team started the qualifying campaign with a victory over the Faroe Islands (2-1). Patrik Schick, who hadn't been called up since September, scored a brace. The Czechs remain unbeaten in regular time over their last five World Cup qualifiers (3 wins, 2 draws), keeping clean sheets in three of those matches. Additionally, the Czech Republic has scored at least two goals in 4 of their last 5 matches in this tournament.

  • At least one opponent failed to score in 6 of the Czechs' last 8 World Cup qualifying matches.
  • The team has not scored more than two goals in their last 7 away World Cup qualifying matches.
  • The Czech Republic conceded in 5 of their last 7 away matches in this tournament.

Predicted lineup for Czech Republic (4-3-3)

Matěj Kovář – Tomáš Holeš, Vladimír Coufal, Ladislav Krejčí, Jaroslav Zelený – Lukáš Červ, Pavel Šulc, Tomáš Souček – Patrik Schick, Václav Černý, Tomáš Chorý.

Defender Tomáš Holeš was injured in the last round.

Gibraltar vs. Czech Republic: Match Prediction

Gibraltar managed to pull off a mini-sensation in the last round. For a team of their level, even scoring against a superior opponent is a significant achievement, and they deserved that goal. The local press praises the head coach for not opting for a defensive style but instead instilling an attacking approach in his players. It's a logical decision: since the team is not contending to advance from the group, why not entertain the fans with their play, at least to the best of their abilities?

The Czechs do not boast a reliable defense. The team has conceded in regular time in 5 of their last 7 away World Cup qualifying matches. In the last round, they even failed to keep a clean sheet against the modest Faroe Islands. So, it wouldn't be surprising if Ivan Hašek's team fails to keep a clean sheet again. However, the Czech Republic will respond without any problems, and not just once. Gibraltar has conceded at least 3 goals in their last 7 home matches in this tournament.

My prediction: Total over 3.5 goals

Betting tips 25 Mar 2025

Before facing group favourites Croatia, the Czech Republic have a golden opportunity to climb to the top of Group L. Their win over the Faroe Islands (2:1) may not have been perfect in attack, but Gibraltar’s defence struggles against stronger opponents — and the Czechs will look to capitalise.

Gibraltar managed only a bright start in their last outing against Montenegro (1:3). After scoring first, they were quickly pegged back and eventually overrun. The stats paint a clear picture: 3.27 xGA and 25 shots conceded — Montenegro, far from an elite side, dominated from start to finish. It’s difficult to see the team picking up even a single point during this qualifying campaign.

Despite losing Tomas Holes to injury, the Czech Republic continued to push forward well against the Faroes. The win nearly slipped away late on, but Patrik Schick responded instantly with the winner. The team posted 2.13 xG and outshot their opponents (16–5 in shots), showing that the structure and attacking intent are firmly in place. The Czechs are now unbeaten in six (four wins, two draws), scoring two or more goals in four of those matches.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Gibraltar and the Czech Republic, and there’s little reason to expect anything but a one-sided affair. With qualification for the 2026 World Cup firmly in their sights, the visitors know goal difference may matter — expect them to make the most of this opportunity.
