Torino, with their season effectively over in terms of objectives, welcome a Venezia side still battling to avoid relegation in their first Serie A season since promotion.
Torino are 11 points off ninth place, and failure to win this round could make that gap mathematically impossible to close. However, how have Torino been performing lately? At the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, the answer is relatively well: they’ve recorded four wins and two draws in their last six home matches. The only teams to avoid defeat there during that run were Genoa and Hellas Verona — both of whom currently sit below Torino in the standings.
Venezia, meanwhile, have spent just the first two matchdays of the season outside the relegation zone, which comprises the bottom three sides. They haven’t been rock bottom since matchday 15, but that’s little consolation. Venezia have picked up only four wins this season, the most recent coming in matchday 32. Although that might seem a positive, it came at home to AC Monza, who sit last in the league, and only by a narrow 1:0 scoreline. Before that, their previous victory was all the way back on 22 December in matchday 17 against Cagliari Calcio.
Most notably, Venezia remain without a single away win this season, having drawn eight of their 17 fixtures on the road. Torino are firm favourites to come out on top, even if the result won’t impact their final standings significantly.
