Suárez's brace secures Inter Miami's victory over Cincinnati in MLS clash

Inter Miami triumphed over Cincinnati with a 2-0 win in the regular season MLS match held at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The hosts' victory was sealed through a brace from Luis Suárez, who found the net in the 1st and 6th minutes of the game. Despite playing most of the match with ten men following defender Tomás Avilés' red card for a second yellow on the 42nd minute, Miami held on to their lead.

Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets were in Inter's starting eleven and played the full 90 minutes. However, the team's star forward Lionel Messi missed the match due to an injury he sustained in the Copa America 2024 final against Colombia, which Argentina won 1-0.

Notably, this win served as a revenge for Inter, who suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat against Cincinnati in their previous encounter in July, when Gerardo Martino's side were convincingly beaten by the orange-and-blues.

Inter Miami currently sits atop the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 56 points, while Cincinnati trails in second place with 48 points.

Inter Miami's next opponent will be Chicago Fire, with the match set to take place away on 1 September. On the same day, Cincinnati will host Montreal at their home ground.
