Real Madrid coaching staff unhappy with Mbappé’s defensive performance

The coaching staff of Real Madrid are reportedly dissatisfied with forward Kylian Mbappé’s performance due to his reluctance to contribute defensively.

According to Relevo, fitness coaches have noted that Mbappé covered only 8 kilometers during the match against Barcelona and did not engage in pressing like his teammates. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti highlighted a key moment before the first goal conceded, pointing out that the French forward chose not to press Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado in the center of the pitch, which allowed Casado to assist Robert Lewandowski.

It has been observed that Mbappé’s reluctance to defend is forcing other players to work harder to compensate, with Jude Bellingham bearing the brunt of the extra workload. Bellingham has had to track back more frequently, limiting his ability to play to his strengths in attack. Currently, the coaching staff is considering ways to address the issue.
