Al-Hilal offered Messi a contract with a salary of up to €1 billion per year

Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal was interested in signing Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi last summer, according to Fox Sports Argentina.

The club reportedly offered the Argentine a salary of €15-20 million per week, meaning the 37-year-old's annual earnings, including bonuses, could have reached €1 billion.

Al-Hilal approached Messi at a time when he had departed Paris Saint-Germain and was seeking a new club. It is noted that the striker had options beyond Al-Hilal, including Barcelona and Inter Miami, the latter of which he ultimately chose.
