Alcaraz believes that the intense schedule impacted his disappointing performance at the US Open

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz believes that the demanding schedule affected his disappointing performance at the 2024 US Open.

— Considering the schedules of Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the Olympics, did you feel like you arrived here with less energy than in previous years?

— Perhaps, yes. The tennis calendar is quite packed. I've played many matches recently — Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. I took a short break after the Olympics, thinking that would be sufficient. It did help a bit, but still, there wasn’t enough time.

I arrived here not as fresh as I would have liked. However, I don’t want to use that as an excuse. Although the schedule is indeed demanding. I am someone who needs more rest between major and important tournaments. I need to reflect on this. We’ll see, — Alcaraz told The Tennis Letter.

The Spaniard was defeated in the second round of the US Open by Botic van de Zandschulp with a score of 1-6, 5-7, 4-6.
