Alonso on Bayern Draw: "It Was Very Difficult"

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has shared his thoughts on the 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in the fifth round of the Bundesliga.

"I wanted to see more energy from the team. We were prepared to fight, and that's what we did. We need discipline and passion from the players. It was not easy; we couldn't take control of the ball. Defending was a real challenge, so this point is important. The energy and confidence of Bayern are different from last season; they are giving their all both with and without the ball. Today was very tough. We can be satisfied with this point," quoted Alonso as saying by Leverkusen's press service.

As a result of the match, Bayern collected 13 points and remained at the top of the table. Bayer, with 10 points, is in third place.

Both teams will return to Bundesliga action soon, with Bayern facing Eintracht Frankfurt on October 6, while Leverkusen will host Holstein Kiel a day earlier.
