Arsenal and Atalanta share points in Champions League opener
The first-round match of the Champions League group stage between Atalanta and Arsenal ended in a draw at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
The teams played out a 0-0 stalemate.
Notably, Atalanta's forward Mateo Retegui missed a penalty in the 51st minute. His shot and subsequent rebound were saved by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.
Arsenal earned one point and currently sits in 16th place in the Champions League standings. Atalanta, also with one point, is in 20th place.
In the next round, Arsenal will host Paris Saint-Germain on October 1. Gian Piero Gasperini's Atalanta will play away against Shakhtar Donetsk the following day.
