Barcelona to register Olmo due to Christensen's injury

Barcelona has received permission from La Liga to register midfielder Dani Olmo, utilizing the long-term injury rule for defender Andreas Christensen, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Blaugrana will be able to include the new team member in their squad for the 2024/25 season, thanks to the roster vacancy created by the Danish player's long-term injury. La Liga approved Olmo's registration under Article 77 of the regulations, which allows exceeding the salary cap limit when a player is injured for a period of no less than four months. The midfielder's contract will be valid only for the current season, and registration is contingent upon available spots in the first team.

Previously, Barca used a similar mechanism to register Inigo Martinez in place of Ronald Araujo.
