Bayern Munich issues statement on supporter's death during match against Benfica
Bayern Munich's press office has released a statement expressing condolences to the family of a supporter who sadly passed away during the previous night's Champions League league stage match against Benfica.
The encounter between the Munich side and the Lisbon club took place at the Allianz Arena, ending with a 1-0 victory for the hosts, thanks to a goal from Jamal Musiala.
"Bayern is in mourning. The team's 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League group stage has been overshadowed by a tragic event. The need for urgent medical assistance for a fan in the stands cast a shadow over the match from the very beginning. Out of respect, the fan section refrained from their usual loud support, and the club also chose to scale back its coverage of the match.
Bayern currently stands in 17th place in the Champions League table, having accumulated six points over four matches. In the next round, the Munich team will host Paris Saint-Germain at their home ground, with the match scheduled for 26th November.
