Beckham expressed his condolences following the death of Sven-Göran Eriksson

Former England captain David Beckham paid tribute to ex-national team manager Sven-Göran Eriksson.

«We laughed, we cried, and we understood that we were saying goodbye… Sven, thank you for always being who you were: passionate, caring, calm, and a true gentleman... I will always be grateful to you for appointing me as captain.

Thank you, Sven, for your last words to me: 'Everything will be alright,» Beckham wrote on social media.

On Monday, it was announced that Eriksson had passed away at the age of 77. In January, the Swede revealed he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Eriksson managed the England national team from 2001 to 2006.
