Dana White names next Contender for UFC middleweight title

UFC President Dana White has revealed who will be the next contender for the promotion's middleweight championship.

«Listen, Sean Strickland right now is the number one ranked middleweight in the world, and the answer is yes, he will be next to fight for the title. We also have Whittaker vs Chimaev so we’re gonna have some fun fights», White said, according to MMA Insight.

The current UFC middleweight champion is Dricus Du Plessis. On the night of August 18, the fighter from South Africa will defend his title against former champion Israel Adesanya from Nigeria. This bout will headline UFC 305, taking place in Australia.

Sean Strickland, in his most recent fight at UFC 302 in June, secured a split decision victory over Paulo Costa. The American has previously held the UFC middleweight title. In September of last year, Strickland claimed the championship by defeating Israel Adesanya. However, in his following bout, the 33-year-old fighter lost the title to Dricus Du Plessis.
