De Roon: «I believe Atalanta can beat Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup»

Atalanta midfielder Marten De Roon has shared his thoughts on the upcoming UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid.

«Let’s hope we can give them the same smile on their face that we could in Dublin [in the the Europa League. That’s incredible. We’re motivated and well up for it tomorrow.

We will have to do our own thing, we have our own philosophy and our own way of playing. It takes respect, and a lot of courage on the pitch, but I believe we can beat Real Madrid.

It has been previously reported that Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will not be available for the UEFA Super Cup match after sustaining an injury during a training session with the team.

Real Madrid and Atalanta will face off in the UEFA Super Cup today, August 14. The match will take place at the National Stadium in Warsaw and is set to kick off at 20:00 BST.

Last season, Madrid clinched the Champions League title, defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final. Meanwhile, Atalanta triumphed over Bayer Leverkusen with a resounding 3-0 victory, claiming the Europa League title and securing the first European trophy in the club's history.
