Djokovic shares his recipe for sporting longevity

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic has shared his recipe for sporting longevity.

— "You’re 37, yet you move as if you’re still 21. How do you manage that?"

— "There isn’t a single word or secret that encapsulates it. It’s simply a way of life and how I approach my tennis career. I’ve been fortunate from a young age to be surrounded by knowledgeable people who were passionate about their work and shared their experiences with me. I was taught early on that prevention extends your career. Stretching, warming up — everything I do will pay off in the long run.

The body is one aspect. Psychology and emotions are another. It’s essential to find the right balance between them. I still enjoy competing, and I am very critical of myself on the court; sometimes, I get frustrated. Ultimately, sport has given me so much. The fact that I continue to play and give my all every time I step onto the court is my way of giving back to this incredible sport," Djokovic stated in an interview following his first-round match at the US Open.

In the opening round of the tournament, the Serbian tennis player defeated Moldova’s Radu Albot with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 6-4.
