England National Team Introduces Interim Head Coach in Place of Southgate
The England national team has appointed Lee Carsley as the temporary coach of the national squad ahead of the start of the 2024/25 Nations League season.
It is worth noting that Carsley is the head coach of the England youth team. According to the press service, the specialist will step down from his position as the coach of the England U21 team for the September matches against Ireland and Finland, after which he will work with the team throughout the autumn while the search for a new head coach is ongoing.
The 50-year-old Carsley took charge of the youth team in July 2021. Under his guidance, the team clinched victory at the European Under-21 Championship last year for the first time since 1984.
As a reminder, on July 16, Gareth Southgate, who had been in charge of the England national team since September 2016, resigned.
