English clubs were the biggest spenders on transfers during the summer

Clubs set an all-time record for the number of transfers in the summer of 2024. 

FIFA published a report summarizing the summer transfer window, revealing that a total of 11,000 transfers were registered worldwide, more than ever before in history. In men's football, the total value of transfers during the summer of 2024 exceeded $6.4 billion, making it the second-highest figure ever, following last summer's record of $7.43 billion. English clubs were the biggest spenders, accounting for over $1.6 billion in transfers. 

In women's football, the summer of 2024 also saw significant activity, with 1,125 transfers registered—a 30% increase compared to the previous year. The total value of all signings reached a record $6.8 million.
