Former Barcelona player Paulinho has announced his retirement from professional footbal

Former Corinthians, Barcelona, Tottenham, and Brazil international Paulinho has announced his retirement from professional football.

“It has been an honor to be a champion multiple times and to win significant trophies, to participate in two World Cups, and to play for Barcelona. I have left behind a great legacy.

During my last match for Corinthians, I realized that this would be my final game, and it was the best way to say goodbye — in front of 45,000 of our supporters,” Paulinho stated in a video posted on social media.

Paulinho won both the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles with Barcelona, and as part of the Brazil national team, he triumphed at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

With Corinthians, he claimed the Brazilian Championship, won the FIFA Club World Cup, and secured the Copa Libertadores title. Additionally, he became a three-time champion in China, winning the domestic cup and the AFC Champions League.
