French authorities have disclosed the number of terrorist attacks thwarted during the 2024 Olympic Games

The head of the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT), Olivier Christen, announced that French authorities have thwarted three terrorist attacks that were planned for this summer's Olympic Games.

One of the attacks was intended to take place at a bar near the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in the city of Saint-Étienne. Another attack was planned against Israeli institutions or diplomatic representations in Paris, although Israeli athletes were not targeted. The attack was to be carried out by two individuals from the Gironde department.

All those involved in planning the attacks have been detained. As a result, five people, including a minor, have been charged.

The Paris Olympics took place from July 26 to August 11.
