Fritz secures comeback victory over Tiafoe to reach 2024 US Open Final
American tennis player Taylor Fritz, currently ranked 12th in the ATP rankings, has advanced to the final of the 2024 US Open.
In the semi-final of the prestigious hard-court Grand Slam tournament in New York, Fritz defeated fellow American and world No. 20 Frances Tiafoe with a scoreline of 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The match lasted 3 hours and 21 minutes. Fritz delivered 16 aces, converted six out of 11 break points, and committed three double faults. Tiafoe, on the other hand, recorded 11 aces, converted four out of five break points, and committed nine double faults.
In the US Open final, Taylor Fritz will face world No. 1 Italian Jannik Sinner, who defeated Britain's Jack Draper with scores of 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
The 2024 US Open wraps up on September 8th, with a prize fund totalling 75 million dollars.
