Hamann: "If I were Bayern, I'd swap Musiala for Wirtz tomorrow"

Former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann believes that Bayern Munich should replace their attacking midfielder, Jamal Musiala, with Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz.

"Musiala's agreement with Bayern runs until 2026, and Munich will have to offer a good new contract to keep him. They are unlikely to have much interest in selling him. President Herbert Hainer sees Musiala as the face of Bayern, and they want to build the team around him. This is quite normal. Musiala can indeed bring success, but in the last few years, Bayern has largely relied on individual performances. This pertains to Musiala as well. Beyond him, there are very few number tens in world football who are pure dribblers. This affects the flow of the game. Musiala is more of an individual player, often a solo artist. If he gets the ball ten times, he drops his head and starts dribbling nine times out of ten. Wirtz, on the other hand, focuses on integrating players like Boniface, Frimpong, or Adli. He makes his teammates better. If I were in Bayern's shoes, and I could swap Musiala for Wirtz, I’d do it tomorrow. However, I think such an exchange is very unlikely. As I mentioned earlier, I see Wirtz more at Real Madrid, with Manchester City also keeping an eye on him," Hamann said to Sky Sport.

Previously, there were reports that Musiala might move to Manchester City next summer.

This season, the footballer has played three matches for Munich and scored one goal. Transfermarkt values the player at 130 million euros.
