"I'll Never Forget You Drinking Champagne from Your Shoe": Hamilton Pays Tribute to Ricciardo After RB Departure
British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has responded to Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo's departure from Racing Bulls (RB).
"Daniel, it has been an honour to compete against you over the years. I'll never forget the battles, the laughter, and the time you drank champagne from your shoe. It was disgusting, but I'm glad I shared that moment with you, mate. You leave behind a great legacy. Thank you for always bringing a wide smile," Hamilton wrote on social media.
On September 26, it was announced that Ricciardo had left RB. He has been replaced in the team by New Zealander Liam Lawson.
Ricciardo celebrated his race victories by drinking alcohol from his own shoe.
