In China, 38 players permanently banned from football for match-fixing

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has permanently banned 43 individuals from any football-related activities in the country for their involvement in organizing match-fixing, as reported by the Xinhua agency.

During a joint press conference held by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Ministry of Public Security, the results of a two-year investigation on match-fixing were revealed. The event included representatives from local sports bureaus, football associations, clubs, and members of the CFA disciplinary committee.

The investigation analyzed 120 matches, resulting in the arrest of 128 suspects for criminal activities, and the elimination of 12 groups engaged in illegal online gambling. Criminal cases were filed against 83 players, referees, coaches, and club managers.

The CFA has imposed a lifetime ban on 38 players and five club representatives. Additionally, 15 players and two officials have received five-year suspensions.
