Inter Miami coach updates on Messi's injury recovery

Inter Miami head coach Gerardo Martino has provided an update on the recovery progress of forward Lionel Messi after his injury.

The 37-year-old Argentine suffered a ligament injury during the Copa America 2024 final against Colombia, a match that took place on July 15 and ended in a 1-0 victory for Argentina.

"At the moment, Lionel needs to get back into physical shape, and he’s already working with the ball. He remains optimistic and believes he will be back on the pitch soon. He also needs to regain confidence that the injury is behind him," Martino told journalist Yoan Melian.

On the night of August 25, Inter Miami secured a 2-0 victory against Cincinnati in an MLS regular season match, thanks to a brace from Luis Suárez.

Gerardo Martino's team currently leads the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 56 points.
