Kevin De Bruyne did not want the captain's armband at Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne did not want to take on the captain's armband for the team.

According to information from The Athletic, De Bruyne has privately admitted that he does not wish to be the team captain. He explained that he prefers to focus fully on his game rather than taking on additional responsibilities. De Bruyne believes it is challenging for him to serve as a "traditional" captain and find the right words at the right moments.

The 33-year-old has been with Manchester City since 2015. Last season, the 32-year-old midfielder scored six goals and provided 18 assists in 26 matches for the club. De Bruyne's contract with the English side runs until the summer of 2025. Transfermarkt values the Belgian player at €50 million.
