Kroos: "Tuchel's appointment as England's head coach did not surprise me"

Former Real Madrid and Germany international Toni Kroos has shared his thoughts on the appointment of fellow countryman Thomas Tuchel as the head coach of England's national football team.

"Tuchel's appointment to the England team did not surprise me. I wasn't sure if he wanted it or not, but I'm not surprised they chose him because he is an excellent coach. I liked his work in England; he speaks English well and won a Champions League with Chelsea. He has a very good reputation in England," Kroos' comments were reported by The Athletic.

The Football Association of England announced on October 16 the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the national team's head coach. The German will assume his duties from January 1. The contract with the 51-year-old is set to run until July 2026.
